Bitcoin, the world's largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, fell 5 percent to $84,201. But the second-largest cryptocurrency, Ether, increased 1.58 percent. This comes amid a wave of sell-off in various markets as traders continue to deal with the consequences of a hack that occurred last week that affected amounts in Ether equivalent to $ 1.5 billion from the cryptocurrency platform Bybit.
The decline puts Bitcoin almost 20 percent away from the all-time high reached on President Donald Trump's inauguration day.
